Half Dome In Yosemite

 Yosemite National Park may be made famous by its share of majestic waterfalls, but the Half Dome is clearly the park’s most distinct natural treasure.

	
This very popular landmark is believed to be the other half of a granite wall that crumbled during the Ice Age. Whether this theory is true or not, it does not change the fact that the Half Dome in Yosemite used to be totally impossible to climb. Over the years, people have found ways to ascend to its peak. Most of them were able to reach the summit by hiking a trail that starts from the valley floor. The roundabout route is approximately 8.5 miles with the last ascent done by following metal cables put up on posts. The final route involving the cables was constructed in the year 1919. 

The Half Dome in Yosemite stands more than 4500 feet above the Yosemite Valley floor and has an elevation of 8,842 feet. The climb to the peak of the Half Dome in Yosemite is very long, about 8.5 miles, and very steep at an elevation of 5,000 feet. A backpacker campground which is very crowded and would require permit, can be found approximately halfway up. Although most people go to and from the Half Dome in Yosemite in one day, the Little Yosemite Valley or the campground is mostly always full of people. Those who have been used to hiking may require seven to ten hours to get to and from the Half Dome in Yosemite. But people who are less experienced may take more than 12 hours to finish the roundtrip.
